Two Are Better Than One

A famous organist was visiting a number of small towns giving recitals in the local churches. At each stop he hired the services of a small boy to pump the organ manually. After a highly successful recital, the boy who had been pumping said to the organist, “ We had a great recital tonight, didn’t we?” The organist replied, I had a great recital. Not we! I! had a great recital tonight!”

The following night, halfway through the repeat recital, the organ ceased to function. Then the small face appeared from behind the screen where the pump was. With a grin, the boy announced, “ we aren’t having such a great recital tonight are we?” The organist had developed such confidence in his own skills that he had overlooked his dependency on others.
“Two are better that one; because they have a good reward for their labour”.                                                                                                                                            Eccl 4:9
Moral of the Story:
Always remember to appreciate those that work for and with you and those that walk alongside you.

Prayer
Thank God for the widespread impact that God’s Word is having, and the transformation that is occurring in many marriages and families of Nairobi Chapel as a result of our sermons.

Some families right here in our midst have been going through difficult seasons. Pray for spouses and children from homes that are facing divorce, separation or strife among the couples. Pray that God may intervene, and may also bring relief and comfort in those marriages where there has been much heartbreak.

Our Children’s ministry has grown by over 100 kids within this past month alone. Thank God for the many children being reached with the living word of truth. Pray that these  children will continue to come to church with their parents, that they may be instructed in the way of the Lord. As a result of the numerical growth the CM has a great need for more teachers. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send in workers for our children.

With the growth of numbers in children’s ministry comes the need for child friendly  classrooms. Currently children meet in their small age-appropriate groups in tents that are set up and set down every weekend. Continue to pray that we will get the long awaited City council license, which we applied for and have been waiting for, so that we will build pre-fab classrooms, so that our children will settle and be enabled to encounter the Lord better.

Many volunteers work hard every weekend to facilitate people’s encounter with the Lord every weekend. Pray for blessings, encouragement and strength for them: ushers,  teachers, worship team, sound team, info desks, crèche workers, parking attendants  etc.

Our Social Justice Ministry has been doing a routine follow-up on some of the benevolence cases who received assistance after the post-elections violence. Thank God for the encouraging testimonies of answered prayers and rewarded efforts. Many who were supported by Nairobi Chapel are back on their feet with flourishing small businesses, children in school and paid bills.
