BULLETIN 3rd Sept 2006

Kwaheri Interns

Five of our 2006 Interns have come to the conclusion of their internship program. As they transition out of this leadership development program, please pray for God’s guidance into the next phase of life.

Mrs Irene MainaMrs. Irene Maina : is a retired teacher, and has served us in the benevolence and counseling ministry. Through the year God has given her deep compassion for the needy around us. She hopes to start a business recycling plastic waste & shopping bags, with the hope of assisting those who are unskilled with a simple job that generates income. Please pray for her as she looks for counsel and capital.

Mrs Irene MainaRuth Kenyah : has served in our children’s ministry for most of the year, and more recently at Beacon Of Hope.  She feels God’s call to continue in ministry, and to study theology. Ruth has very strong leadership potential, and we would be honored if she chose to join our ministry for further training. Please pray for her as she seeks God on the next step.

Mrs Irene MainaRuth Baraka : served in the children’s ministry, is a gifted teacher, and about the most gentle spirit you will ever meet. She hopes to pursue this line, train for children and eventually work as a early childhood teacher. Pray for her as she explores the training opportunities open to her.

Mrs Irene MainaMark Mumo : Mark worked largely with the youth, is trained in Engineering, and hopes to start a career in IT. But Mark has always had a passion for missions, and is seeking God on how he can marry his dream and his passion. Pray clear direction into his life.

Mrs Irene MainaJonathan Snowball :  trained in church ministry, Jonathan will be going back to Canada in a months time to join the staff of a church in Toronto as a Pastor (God willing). Several options are open. Please pray that God will lead his to the specific one that will capitalize on his gifts. Jonathan also needs to sell his car (1998 Sunny B 14 Nissan with 59 000 km on it) before he leaves (520,000/= ono). Please pray for a buyer. Contact 0725 859 600 or  jonathan_snowball@hotmail.com.

As we look back on the year we want to thank God for each one of these people. They have been a huge blessing to us all. Their presence helped us have the capacity to manage the last year with all it’s challenges, and because of them, things have gone extremely well!

We want to bless them, and ask God to reward them for their faithful service. Thank you Interns!

Announcements

Nairobi Marathon : Praise the Lord for the ongoing marathon plans for October. Both the Minister in the dept of Sports and Culture, and the main sponsor for the marathon Standard Chartered Bank, were true to their word and resolved the Sunday route conflict with the churches. The route has been changed so that it doesn’t disrupts church services. The marathon will take place along Mombasa road (between Haile-Selassie Avenue to Athi River). Churches like Neno and ICC are on the route but  will still be able to hold services (access through their back gates). Thank you Honorable Kamanda and Standard Chartered Bank!

Mashariki Chapel : Our daughter church, Mashariki Chapel, recently blessed us in a way that is truly humbling!! The took a special collection on Aug 6, the day they celebrated their 1st anniversary, and gave their whole collection (50,000/=) to us, Nairobi Chapel! Mashariki has a monthly collection of about 150,000/=, and so this was a very expensive ‘thank-you’ gift, but they did it because they wanted to say thank-you for birthing them. We are truly humbled by this gesture of love!

Giving in August : Thank you all for your giving through the month of August! Our total was 2.61 m. Many people have expressed how helpful they are finding the present series of messages, and their commitment to start giving faithfully! Praise the Lord for this. Please keep up the commitment and give even more generously in Sept as we are still trying to cover the budget shortfall experienced in the earlier part of this year.
