BULLETIN 12th March 2006

A DIFFERENT SORT OF SERVICE

Our service this morning will be different from past services. A year ago I had a chance to see a powerful video on the church in China, and what God has done there. It had a powerful effect on me, as it has on all the others who have seen it since. I immediately knew I wanted the church to see this video, but the question was how? I have since seen it again 4 - 5 times, and each time it draws tears to my eyes, and a deeper passion to serve God wholeheartedly.

For a full year I have prayed about how to share this experience with all of you. I feel I should go ahead and just screen the video during the Sunday services. I think this is timely for several reasons; firstly, it will inform you on how God is at work in another part of the world, specifically in the amazing Chinese church (wait till you see their passion in video no. 3). Secondly, I believe it will motivate all of us towards deeper spirituality and godly living. Finally, the sermon series we are currently going through, "But As For You . . ." ties in perfectly with the video as it deals with the exact same things lived out in real life.

Last week we showed you a 10 minute clip from that video, and I think you would agree it deeply touched you. This week we will show a longer section, allowing you to see this amazing story. I will then intersperse my sermons with the videos, week after week as we work our way through II Tim.

One of the challenges of doing this however is that we must darken the tent so the video is clear. That cuts out the cool breeze however, and may raise the temp inside the tent. Please bear with us in this - we can't have our pie and eat it too, so lets live with the possible inconvenience, but be blessed spiritually.
Thankfully temperatures are down due to the rains.

Pastor Oscar
Pastor Oscar Muriu.

Announcements

Baptism: Come celebrate baptism with us this afternoon as several of our members go through the waters of baptism to celebrate their faith, and to obey the Lord in this rite of passage.

Sermon DVD: Get your copy of the full sermon series "Behold Your God", 8 studies on the key names of God. Each DVD has a full video of the sermons. You can also order a DVD of each individual service.

Premarital Counseling Class:
Are you planning to wed this year? The premarital counseling class begins today at 3:00 pm at our Paresia Office opposite Uchumi Hyper, Ngong Rd. For those who are planning to wed this year, but have not registered for the class yet, please join today. This will be the first of 10 classes.
Ekklesia Group: Would you like to join a home fellowship small group? If so please register your name at the Information Desk after the service. This is a great way to connect with other members here at Chapel, and is an important way to grow spiritually.

Foundations Class: Are you a young believer who has just recently accepted Christ as savior, or have you known Christ for a while but received no assistance in laying down a foundation to your faith? We have just today began our 'Foundations Class' for new believers. Please join us next week at 8 - 10 am. We meet in one of the tents set up on the field outside.

Bible Study on II Tim: Pick up your copy of devotional bible study material on II Tim to go along with our present sermon series. There is much in the book of II Tim we will not be able to deal with in the 4 session we have on Sunday. This devotional material has therefore been specially written to help you go deeper. 4 days of devotions each week with day one closer look at the context, background and important themes of the chapter under study.

PA and sound: Believe it or not we are still trying to get this right. It's been noted that the sound levels have crept up again over the last few weeks - sorry for that. We are doing everything possible to address the situation, please bear with us. But we also need help, trustworthy people who can help us set up at 7am, test sound levels early and be ready in good time for the service. If you can avail yourself at that time, and lend a helping hand (KYM), please see Mark Kioko at the PA after the service.

Men's BS: Men, are you looking for a Bible Study to join? Join us on Fridays at 6:30 pm at our Paresia office, for a Men's Bible Study. This study is led by Pastor Oscar.

CFJS t-shirts: Would you like to make a visual statement about the current political situation of our country? Would you like a reminder to pray diligently for this nation? CFJS will be selling T-Shirts at the information table reflecting the issues at hand. These will serve as a good prompt to keep on our knees for this nation.

Children’s Water Baptism: Has your child been baptized? If your child is between the ages of 10 - 11 and has received Christ as his/her saviour but has never been baptised, then this is a wonderful opportunity for him or her to receive this gift. We will run baptism classes every Sunday from the 2nd of April 2006 to the 30th April (except on the 16th which is Easter) from 10.30am. If your child is ready for this step, please sign up at the Info Desk.
