PRAY FOR THESE URBANA SPEAKERS

For the past 20 years Dr. McNeil has distinguished herself as an outstanding leader in the field of racial and ethnic reconciliation. She served on the staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as the Regional Coordinator of Multiethnic Training. In 1995, in response to her growing passion for authentic race relations, Dr. McNeil founded Overflow Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit, faith based organization devoted to the ministry of racial reconciliation. She is also the coauthor of the book 'The Heart of Racial Justice: How Soul Change Leads to Social Change’

In addition to lecturing and speaking at conferences in Sri Lanka, Dr. Fernando has authored 11 books, found in 11 languages, including: The Supremacy of Christ; NIV Application Commentary on Acts; Sharing the Truth in Love; Jesus Driven Ministry; and is presently working on a preaching commentary on Deuteronomy. Dr. Fernando has spoken several times at previous Urbana conventions, and will serve Urbana 06 as the Bible expositor for the book of Ephesians in the plenary sessions.

Urbana has also given us several scholarships for the conference. We have therefore invited the following to accompany Pastor Oscar and his wife
Mercy Ngure : one of our Sunday School teachers who has just finished university and feels called to serve in Children's ministry. Mercy has proved herself to be hard-working and faithful in her ministry. She will be joining our staff in Sept. as an intern.
Mercy Njoki : Our worship team member. She is presently a student at KU, and feels God's call to serve him in music. She too has proved to be a faithful worker as she has served on our worship team.
Bridget Nkatha : Has just completed her studies at the Nairobi University., and has been one our University SALT ministry leaders.
Mark Mumo : One of our present interns and an engineering graduate (last year) of the University. Mark has always had a passion for missions.

The Chapel will cover half the cost of the ticket for these students, so please pray that each of them can raise the remaining 50%. Pray too that God will use this conference to convict each one of them about their future service for the Kingdom; we certainly feel each has the calling of God on their life. In addition, Rose Weru will be accompanying us as a prayer warrior. Pray too for her that God will powerfully minister to her as she ministers to us in prayer.

Bake Sale: Yes, the Youth ministry is doing a bake sale today as part of our ongoing project to finish painting Jamhuri Primary School ( we have painted quite a big chunk already!). So buy cake today! Enjoy it. We did.

Baptism: Our next baptism is on 17th September. If you have gone through the classes and are yet to register for the baptism, please do so today at the end of the service at the Info Table.

Foundations I & II: Classes begin in September. Please register your desired attendance at the Information Table.

Celebration Ahead: October 2006 will mark our first year anniversary since relocating to this new site. We want to celebrate God's faithfulness to us over the past year for we have much reason to rejoice. A celebration gives us a good excuse to bring our best African Sunday wear, and to decorate our tent with an African theme. So get ready for a festive month of celebration, plan to wear AFRICAN (or national dress for other nationalities), and come ready to dance!
