Each of the Gospels records Jesus last words as a commission to his disciples to go and preach the gospel (Mt 28:19; Mk 16:15; Lk 24:47 & Jn 20:21). He message is clear and simple - it all begins with the proclamation of the good news. Preaching (evangelism) leads to salvation, responsible evangelism leads to discipleship, while discipleship and the gathering of the disciples leads to church and church planting.

Our 4th DNA is therefore to keep the preaching of the gospel central to our mission, and to do so by planting churches aggressively. Our goal is to work together and plant 300 churches by the year 2020. Already we have planted 25, and the 'Relocation Plus' added another 5 to our numbers. Now each of the relocation plus churches must seek to plant another 60 churches in the next 15 years!

How do we do that? Multiple strategies.

Intentional Leadership Devp. : The first is to intentionally develop the leadership needed for these church plants. In our context you don't find good pastors hanging around waiting to be employed - there too much work, and so the only place to get leaders is to take them young and grow them. This began 15 yrs ago with Pastor Muriithi and pastor Janet. Now we marvel at the quality of leaders they are. At present we are investing in the following theological students Albert and Eda Asilaba (who graduate in 3 months time), and Luke Jaoko. We also have 2 young leaders at the start of the journey - Mark Kioko and Susan Walutila.

Equipping the Saints : by helping people find their spiritual gifts, learn to us them and then we deploy them out into a church plant. The ultimate goal of your being here should not be to simply 'enjoy' the services, but to engage and hone your gift in preparation for the day God will call you to go out on a church planting team.

Strategic Goal Setting : Having a focused goal that we work towards. There's nothing magical about 300 by the year 2020, but the target forces us to keep working hard to achieve it. God's call to us is to spread the gospel aggressively - to all the world. You need to take that call and give it feet and hands. One way to do that is to join an Ekklesia group and together commit to plant a church after 5 years. If you do, we will furnish you with one of our young pastors.

These are 3 steps towards that goal, I will say more on this 4th DNA in 2 weeks time.

Good Friday Service: We will NOT be holding a Good Friday service this year, but you can catch one a morning service at Covenant Church (Hospital Hill School) at 9:30 am, or a late afternoon service 4:30 pm at Mamlaka Hill Chapel on the same day. May God bless you as you celebrate this Easter season.

Service Construction teams: Today we will be introducing the Service Planning teams to you (each team consists of 10 people). These 2 teams pray for and plan the services 2 - 4 months ahead of time. I share with them the preaching focus, and they determine the flow, worship, nature of, décor, testimonies, ministry time, etc of the service. They also meet weekly to evaluate each weekend service, and to make necessary changes. We want you to know them so that if you need to submit a suggestion, give feedback, contribute artistically, share a testimony, sing a song, etc - you know who to go up to. This months services have been planned by the 2nd team, while months were being managed by the 1st.

Kids Kamp 2006: The children's ministry will host a full day kid's camp from the 8th to the 12th of August at the church and children from ages 6-11 are invited. The aim of the camp is to help your child develop a deeper love for the word, how to live a Christian life and how to share their faith with others. The program will be taught in innovative, creative and fun ways and there will be games, sports, crafts and other exciting things to do… details of the camp will be made available soon, please pray and plan towards this event.

Banns of Marriage: We wish to announce Banns of Marriage for Mr. George Karuga and Ms Lina Koki. The wedding will be held on 22th Apr, 2006 in Karen (private residence) at 11am. If anyone knows a valid reason why this couple should not be united in holy matrimony, please let the pastors know.
