The Roman Road
While most of us know we should be tell others about Christ, we often feel inadequate in how we should share the Gospel with others. The Romans Road is a tool that lays out the plan of salvation through a series of Bible verses from the Book of Romans. When arranged in order, these verses form an easy, systematic way of explaining the message of salvation. The Romans Road clearly defines:
1. Who needs salvation
2. Why we need salvation
3. How God provides salvation
4. How we receive salvation
5. The results of salvation
1. Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.
Romans 3:23“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin. We were born under the power of sin’s control. Here you lead a person to admit that they are sinners and in need of redemption.
2. The price (or consequence) of sin is death.
Romans 6:23 “For the Wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.”
Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is a result of sin. But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God and will last for all eternity. Here you lead a person to admit that they are sinners and as the word of God says, they deserve to die.
3. Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price for our death.
Romans 5:8 “God demonstrates His own love for us, in what while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!” NIV
When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin’s penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we believe in Him and what He has done for us, understanding that we are now joined with Him, and that He is our life.
4. We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9,10,13 “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. . . for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” NLT
Here you lead someone in repentance by turning from the old life to a new life in Christ. God is always knocking on a sinner’s heart’ and all they need to do is ask Him to come into their heart., to call out to Him and He will hear and save.
5. Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.
Romans 8:1 “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been made right with God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” NLT
The gift of salvation is free. Help someone understand this that they may receive this gift, through faith in Jesus Christ.
