Quest
By Pastor Bea Muriu
First and foremost Children Ministry now goes by a new name, “QUEST” which means search or pursuit of God, His truth and His kingdom. It embodies the great adventure of knowing God, enjoying His Word and His people. Our commitment is to grow DEEP to reach WIDE. But this year we launched more than just a name: Ladies and gentlemen I give you “QUEST EXTREME”!
I am thrilled that we now have a team of extreme worshipers who are pouring out their hearts to Jesus and leading other kids in Sunday worship. These kids have done so well! Special thanks to you parents who have changed your Sunday schedule to ensure that the kids arrive at 9am to practise. Valerie Langat, our Worship Leader, has done an amazing job with this new team. Today, this group of young worship leaders are in the service with you. It has been a thrill to be apart of their enthusiasm and godly energy.
Another new beginning is QUEST DIVE- our new Believers class, where kids dive deep into the Bible and into their new relationship with God. But every serious swimmer needs a first class Coach, and the Lord sent us some from Club Expressions!
We have a team of dedicated, creative and godly teenagers that we call Quest Dive Coaches who have prayed for the kids, met with them weekly and prepared for the Sunday sessions which have run for two months. The Coaches did such an excellent job with the first team of 8 that I have them teaching the 27 kids preparing for Baptism in May. The kids really look up to the Teen Coaches as big brothers and sisters. As we evaluated the training, the Coaches acknowledged that their own faith has grown as they have taught the foundational issues of Christian faith to others. What an exciting exchange! The coaches Kate, Muriu, Kelvin, Shiru, Ciku, Hannah and Wanja have done us proud.
And then there is the amazing SERVICE PLANNING F.O.S.S (Friends of Sunday School) who have transformed our lives at Quest. Launched this year as well, this team has the awesome task of helping us streamline our systems and host a safe, child-friendly, creatively constructed, bible focused Sunday service. Juliet Mburu, Jacqueline Nyaga, Paul Korir, Juliet Murugu and David Kombe are the people I am bragging about.
They have lots of exciting ideas that promise to make Quest unique and life transforming. If you have walked into Imani, our three 4-5 year-old classes, I know you have already seen the difference it has made to have them onboard. They are amazingly efficient and have mobilized parents in a way that they can help for only 2 Sundays three times a year. I can see shortage of extra hands to help care for our kids will be a thing of the past! Paul Korir who thrives on IT promises us a Quest Blog in the near future. With people like this in the house we know we are blest and as the saying goes “May the FOSS be with you…” |
