PLUG-IN
Have you woken up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom only to find there is a black-out? It is an un-nerving experience. I can almost guarantee that even with the familiarity of your own house, you will probably stab a foot or knock something over. It is guessing game!
In our Christian life we sometimes grope in the dark. We know what we ought to be but we don't know how to get there. It is an anxious journey of tripping and knocking things over. Somewhat discouraged we opt to put up with the way things are: status quo….really better than knocking things over. Even within the community of faith, we do not always know our place and our gifts so we settle for the minimum. We come to church faithfully on Sunday but remain in the margins of the life of the church.
Your Christian life does not have to be a guessing game and you do not have to be at the margins of the life of Nairobi Chapel. PLUG-IN is a 10 week group experience designed to help every person that attends this congregation bridge where you are and where God intends for you to be in relation to Himself, in relation to His community and in relation to His destiny for you.
The concept of PLUG-IN is borrowed from the multi-plug a familiar electrical gadget in our homes that makes our lives easy. It enables us to access power from the electrical mains, and at the same time to use multiple gadgets while accessing power from a single socket. PLUG IN- is about YOU being connected.
In this group experience we will respond to all your questions about membership here at Nairobi Chapel. We will also begin to seek God’s plan for our individual lives in the context of a group. Thirdly, we will respond to all your queries about connecting deeper into community through our E-groups.
PLUG IN starts 1st March right here at the tent. Please sign up. If you need any further clarification, please send me an email on cathleeenrotich@nairobichapel.org

Special welcome to "Jars of Clay" into our service today
A special welcome also to all of you who are visiting Nairobi Chapel for the very first time. We are truly glad that you could worship with us today. Here is a brief introduction of us, but stay with us and get to know us better.
Nairobi Chapel was started in 1952. In the late 80’s, Oscar Muriu became the lead Pastor of the church that had about 20 members. By the end of the 90s the Lord had grown this church to over 3000 people attending multiple weekend services at our Mamlaka site near the university of Nairobi. The Lord guided the leaders to relocate the congregation to larger premises. We bought this property but when we were unable to relocate immediately, he led us to multiply into five churches in different corners of Nairobi.
Thus in 2005 Nairobi Chapel multiplied into Mamlaka Hill Chapel on the original site, Mavuno Church on Mombasa road, Mashariki Church on Jogoo road and Covenant Church in Kileleshwa. Mavuno planted Mavuno Down Town in the city center.
Nairobi Chapel, led by Senior Pastor Oscar Muriu relocated to Ngong Road, first on Impala grounds in 2005. In September 2007 we moved to our current site. We are settling in and developing this property gradually as the Lord provides the resources we need. Even as we settle, we rejoice that he has been at work among us in amazing ways since we relocated. We sense that the Lord has launched us into an amazing season of growth and full realization the vision that he gave our elders over nine years ago. We call it Vision 2020 , with four pictures of reality to it as follows:
1. To evangelize to one million people with the gospel of Christ.
2. To Disciple 100,000 F.A.I.T.H.ful disciples by the year 2020
3. To become a mission catalyst in Africa and the rest of the world
4. To be plant 300 churches by the year 2020.
Over the years, the Lord has been fulfilling this vision among us in various ways, including through church planting, involvement in social justice ministries and missions. As we have continued to seek direction, clarity and focus, he has recently led us to narrow it down to a simple, memorable phrase, “Grow DEEP...to reach WIDE. We have identified how each person here fits in, how the community of faith gathered here is joined in a common mission and how it all fits in the larger body of Christ.
Do join the life of Nairobi Chapel participate with us to discover all this and especially find your place among us. As we listen to the Lord together in the Lord, we can guarantee you that your life will never be the same again. |
