Exchanging Life For Life

John Njenga - Mission 29
Listening to Dr. Omar on Sunday April 5th I could not help but felt intrigued with the subject of missions. I have not ceased to think about the ABCD of what it takes to live courageously. He was very emphatic that God is pleased when we as His children become part of what He is doing in the lives of many all over the world.

As a Church we have put our foot on the move by saying we want to grow deep in order to reach wide by expansion, not only to the communities in our surrounding but also to other parts of the country where the gospel has not yet penetrated. Apart from reaching to our own diverse cultures, we seek to interact with other cultures internationally in a reciprocal manner where we become a blessing to the people and most importantly be in the place of learning from them.

Our plan is to have three short term missions every year; two within the country and one outside Kenya.  Our first short term mission will take place from June 25th - July 5th in Lodwar. In partnership with African evangelistic enterprise Kenya (AEE), this mission promises to be a success.

Lodwar is a medium town located in a dry area about 700 km North West of Nairobi.  It has a population of about 35, 000 people, mostly the native Turkana people as well as Ethiopians and Southern Sudan business men. About 50km away from Lodwar town, there are people who are yet to hear about the gospel of Jesus Christ. This mission will be a great opportunity for all of us as we commit these ten days in exchange of what will last for eternity.

You may have never been to any mission or have never shared your faith with someone; I would like to tell you there is always the first time and the experience during and after is so wonderful with great life transforming memories.

I am saying this from experience after going to Mozambique and South Africa last year with interns and recently to China. I learnt that our privilege of knowing the Lord and the freedom of worship in our country is not always a guarantee to others out there. After such experiences, life and people become more important than anything else. The amazing thing is that, though God is kept away by cultures and people's religiosity, those who know the Lord are totally sold out to Him.

We invite you to be part of Lodwar experience and as you step out by faith, you will just realize that this is another level of your life that you have never imagined. You may have had a desire to participate in missions or maybe you are called to missions but have never taken the first step. My encouragement to you is to step out as the Lord guides for there are great are the opportunities coming your way.

We also have an opportunity for those who want to be involved but cannot make the mission trip, We need non-perishable foodstuff and clothing. You can also be part of this by sponsoring someone. Sign up at the missions desk or contact us on 0721542603 or 0721586200 for any clarification
