21 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING SCHEDULE

WEEK 2 JULY 13th -19th

Theme: Build Your Church Lord!

“And I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” --Matthew 16:18-19

July 13th:  To Receive a Fresh Outpouring of God’s Spirit
Prayer for the congregation--Ask God to prepare our congregation and His Church in the city with a new wineskin in order to receive the new wine He wants to pour out upon His people this year. Invite the Lord to sweep “the house” clean of any impurities and welcome His Holy Spirit to come in a fresh new way.

But new wine must be put into new wineskins (Mark 2:22b).

  1. Pray for broken and contrite hearts. Ask that God would expose sin and purify his church.
  2. Ask God to open the spiritual eyes and ears of the congregation – that God would make us discerning.
  3. Pray that they would know God's will for their lives – and fully live for things worth Christ’s death.
  4. Pray that they would do God’s will in their lives – even when it costs us.
  5. Pray for productivity in their lives – that we would bear fruit that honours God.
  6. Pray for them to have a growing relationship with God. Pray for power in their lives. vii) Pray for them

to have a right attitude toward God and others.
"…enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch our your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus." After they prayed the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly (Acts 4: 29-31).

July 14th: To be Served by Visionary Leaders
Pray for the pastors and those who work alongside them--Ask God to give our pastors and church leaders prophetic vision for the Year. Pray that the Lord would revitalize each leader and his/her family spiritually, physically, and mentally. Pray that the Lord would prepare “fresh bread” for them to serve God’s people.  Ask God to show church leaders how they can speak to the issues of the day with boldness and truth and as such become reformers for society’s problems.

I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me (Habakkuk 2:1).
Practical assignment: What are some changes would you like to see in our leaders?  Take time and pray for them today.  Pray for the different departments and pastors: Pastor Oscar, Pastor Janet, Pastor Bea, Pastor Kabibi, Pastor Faith, Pastor Cathleen, Pastor Mark and Pastor Albo.  Take time to pray for each one of them by name, especially for the following:
a. Personal Needs:
i)Humility (having a servant's heart, being teachable, admitting wrongdoing, being willing to receive positive criticism, & relying on God).
ii) Wisdom to know God’s Agenda(pray they remain sensitive to God’s leading, and that they will live and work according to God’s priorities).
iii) Positive Relationships (raise up men and women to stand alongside).
iv) The Fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control).
v) Pray for their health.
b. Family Needs:
 i) The priority of family (pray they would make their family top priority).
ii) Provision for family (ask God to meet their needs).
c. Spiritual Needs:
i) Time alone with God (ask God to make prayer, Scripture reading, and worship daily priorities in your pastors’ lives).
ii) Anointing (without the power of the Holy Spirit a leader can do nothing of value).
iii) Integrity (Satan knows that when he hurts the leader, the followers suffer).
iv) Protection from Spiritual Warfare (pray for the full armour of God over their lives according to Eph. 6:10-18, and that they will be protected from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--1 John2:16).
v) Accountability
d. Pastor Oscar’s upcoming trips
                i. In August, USA for a conference on short-term missions at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
ii. In August, Canada, a pre-Urbana speakers conference and Sunday service at North Park Church.
iii. In September, a conference in Germany.
iv. In December, the Urbana Conference in the USA.
v. Pray that through this he will be able to impact the people he will be speaking to and that he will be able to establish partnerships and form long-term relationships for worldwide missions in the southern hemispheres.  Pray for protection against burnout.

July 15th - 17th: To Experience God’s Presence and Power in our Chapel ministries
Pray that corporate Nairobi Chapel  gatherings (Sunday services, Club Expressions, D-Clubs, Plug In, E-Groups, Adiya, Men by Design, Quest) will be marked by the tangible presence of God and that every time the people gather in large or small groups they will have supernatural life-changing encounters with God.   Ask in faith for God’s Spirit to manifest Himself in awesome worship, powerful preaching of the Word, united fervent prayer, liberal giving, acts of kindness, supernatural healings, miracles, and new births in Christ.

July 19th:  To Prepare Her Members to be Agents of Transformation
Pray for the church in Kenya
Pray that our church and churches across the nation would equip the body of Christ to do the work of the ministry, transform their spheres of influence, and impact the world for Christ in publicly meaningful and tangible ways. Pray for a foundation in the Word of God to be laid again in the lives of Christians and for the restoration of a biblical worldview in God’s people.
His intention was the perfecting and full equipping of the saints [His consecrated people], that they should do the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body [the church] (Ephesians 4:12 ).
Practical Assignment:

    • Integrity—pray for the integrity of the church that has been compromised in recent times (as seen through the media), e.g. embezzlement of funds, promiscuity, lax standards, involvement in child molestation, etc.
    • Revival—pray for revival within the whole church in Kenya through faithful proclamation of the Word, evangelism, outreach, missions, congregational involvement, etc.
    • Forgiveness—pray for forgiveness and restoration from post-election violence, especially with church leaders and members involved.  Pray that the members of Christ’s body will look at each other as brothers and sisters instead of as members of tribes.  Who are the Christians or non-Christians or tribes that stir up painful memories and thoughts in you?  Forgive them, bless them.  Pray for them and seek reconciliation with them as much as it depends on you.  Ask God to show you if there is any dead religious tradition in your own life and renounce it.
    • Bible reading and prayer—pray that Bible reading and prayer will become a way of life for Christians.  Pray that people will be excited about immersing themselves in the Word.
    • Pray for the needs of two other churches (apart from Nairobi Chapel).  Pray for them by name – you could ask your colleagues at work to share some needs from their churches.

The purpose is to pray for renewed spiritual passion, purpose, and purity in our own lives, then extend our prayers for awakening to our families, workplaces, churches, communities, and the nation.
Week 1:  Theme: "LORD CHANGE ME"

PHIL 3: 10-11 “I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead”.
    PRAYER FOR YOUR PERSONAL LIFE:
To Increase in Spiritual Hunger and Holiness

As we begin, ask the Lord to awaken your heart to His love. Pray for increased hunger to spend more time in prayer, worship, and God’s Word. Pray for a greater awareness of God’s holiness and ask Him to give you a tender conscience and a heart to please Him in your every thought, word, and deed.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of my salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me (Psalm 51: 10-12,).

Things to ponder and do:Over Lunch time find a quiet place and spend time in confession today. Are there things in your life that God is displeased with? Ask that the Holy Spirit would search your heart and reveal all –even that which is hidden deep within.  Confess it to God and ask for his cleansing and renewal.
    July 7th:
To Walk in Wisdom and Revelation

Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see Him more clearly and your ears to hear anything He desires to speak.  Pray for a Spirit of wisdom and revelation that you might know Jesus more deeply and have a profound understanding of the authority He has given you in Christ Jesus.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and the incomparably great power for us who believe (Ephesians 1:17-18,)
Things to ponder and do:List at least 3 things you are very anxious or fearful about in your life right now. How would God want you to appropriate His great power over these issue..
     July 8th:
To be Filled with Power and Purpose
Ask to be filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit. Pray for the supernatural works of Jesus to be manifested in your life and that those around you will be transformed as they seek to know the powerful God that you serve.  Pray that you would fulfil God’s purpose in your generation and that the very course of history would be changed because you lived.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 15:13,).
For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep (Acts 13:36,)

    Things to ponder and do
: When you  look at your life right now, do you feel you are living a life of purpose? Whatever your work is right now, do you feel your in a place that is worth dying for (so to speak)? Do you wake up anticipating the day ahead or do you dread waking up each morning dreading what is ahead of you?

      11.     PRAYER FOR YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS and WORK PLACE:
    July 9th:
    A. To Experience Fresh Encounters
Invite the Lord to visit your family in a fresh new way. Pray that this year, you and your family and your close friends will encounter the holiness and sovereign power of God that will leave each one changed by His touch.
Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it, and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43: 19,).

Things to ponder and do: Through the day write a list of things you are thankful for about your family. Things that God has done for you....the goal is to come up with a list of at least 50 things!
    B.To be Saved and Delivered:
Pray for any loved ones by name who do not know the Lord or have fallen away from Him.  Ask the Lord to reveal Himself to them as the awesome God that He is.  If any are filled with hurt, shame, doubt or fear, pray that they will run to God and not away from Him. Pray a hedge of protection around your family from all deception, temptation, and any plans of the Enemy that would thwart the good plans God has for them.

…Believe in and on the Lord Jesus Christ—that is, give yourself up to Him, take yourself out of your own keeping and entrust yourself into His keeping, and you will be saved; [and this applies both to] you and your household as well (Acts 16:31,).

Things to ponder and do: Make a list of your loved ones that you are purposing to pray for.  Do you or your loved ones need deliverance from certain habits that have held you or your loved ones bond?  Write them down and pray over them.
     July 10th:
    A.To Serve God Together:
If you have never prayed, worshipped, or shared communion together as a family unit, or if you have gotten away from this habit, consider how you can begin this practice regularly.  Set aside time today to pray with at least one other family member and declare,

As  for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15,).

Things to ponder and do: Be purposeful, write a list of things you will purpose to do with each member of your family at least once a week. If married, with your spouse, children.  If single plan to do so with your siblings and parents.

    B. To be Healed and Reconciled
Pray for your extended families and friends (close friends) for healing. Ask God to send a revival to families, causing many in entire bloodlines to get born-again. Ask God to restore any broken marriages for which you are aware.  Pray for reconciliation between parents and children and to repair breeches among other family members.

Turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers... (Malachi 4:6,)

Things to ponder and do: Be very specific, write down a list and purpose to pray for this people.  Pray for healing between fathers and sons, daughters and mothers, mother –in-law, father-in-law, daughters and  sons-in law...
    JULY11th:

    111. PRAYER FOR YOUR WORKPLACE:

    A.To be a Habitation for God’s Presence
Lift your business or workplace before the Lord, asking for God’s presence to fill the atmosphere, making it conducive for God to speak and work in the lives of all who are employed there. Pray for your employer and/or co-workers by name, asking God to reveal Himself to each one.

I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing
     (1 Tim 2:8,).

    B.To Value Integrity

Pray that leaders in your workplace would uphold a standard of godliness in business dealings and financial planning. Ask God to strengthen your co-workers against the temptation to compromise. Pray that those in your workplace would walk in God’s ways and honor Him with their finances.

…we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every good work (Col 1:9-10,).

Things to ponder and do: Write a commitment vow to the following: 1.Integrity against cheating on time, bribery....2. Purity in the work place: talk that does not edify, pray against coarse joking, courage to stand up for what is right...pray against  the 2nd look!! , Pray that God would open a door of opportunity to share the gospel...write the name of the one or two people you are purposing to witness to.3. Do a prayer walk in your place of work, business premises, school etc.

    July 12th
    To Experience Revival:
: Pray for another marketplace revival to sweep the nation.  Pray for revival to break out in your industry, whether you work in education, government, business, media, entertainment, or religion. Ask the Lord to raise up dedicated Christians who will become a voice to reform your specific industry.
Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (Ps. 85:6,)
Things to ponder and do: Write out a media house, entertainment place, hotel etc that you will purpose to pray for today. Write down the specific things that you want to see changed, closed down or refreshed. Pray for a spiritual revival for its employees (beginning with top management e.g. CEO’s, General Managers etc).

    Why should we fast?

Mark 9:28-29. And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast him out?” So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” There are certain situations whose solution is a combination of prayer and fasting.
Fasting is the most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. Through fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit can transform your life.

Fasting and prayer can also work on a much grander scale. According to Scripture, personal experience and observation, I am convinced that when God's people fast with a proper Biblical motive-seeking God's face not His hand-with a broken, repentant, and contrite spirit, God will hear from heaven and heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation and world.
Fasting and prayer can bring about revival - a change in the direction of our nation, the nations of earth and the fulfillment of the Great Commission. The awesome power can be released through you as you fast through the enabling of the Holy Spirit.

    Please Note:
    We start our fast on July 6 – 26. This is a 6:00am – 6pm fast.
We will be meeting ever Friday in July from 6.00am – 7:00am for a corporate time of worship at Nairobi Baptist Church ‘Old Sanctuary’.
We will have a Kesha on Friday, July 24. Venue to be communicated.
