Their Success… your Success
During the post-election violence, those in Kibera sought refuge at the agricultural show grounds. As a church, we responded fast to show mercy in the difficult situation at the camp. We were able to resettle over 300 families in community sensitive housing while others were transported to their ancestral homes. We have also been able to support over 40 families to start small businesses, assisting them get back to a normal life. Prior to the disbursement of cash support, they were facilitated and empowered with entrepreneurship skills to enable them develop and sustain their businesses. Consequent follow-ups by the Social Justice Ministry have uncovered several success stories. Today we share with you the success of three families that you helped uplift and are back on their feet.

Hannah Njoki
Hannah Njoki is single mother and has a boy who’s in Std 6. Prior to the post election violence, she lived in Kibera and run a food kiosk at the “ Toi" Market.  After her premises was burnt down and her house vandalized, she sought refuge in Jamhuri Park for a number of weeks. The Church through Steve and Wacuka, (both members of the Chapel) helped to resettle her in Ngando, Dagoretti.  Through the Adopt a Family initiative, she received 3,000 monthly for 6 months; for rent and food. In the first month of this support, she took the initiative, got a location in ‘Othaya’ Market, an open air market between Adams Shopping centre and Winners’ Chapel. She borrowed utensils and started making porridge. Her hard work and zeal caught our attention and we decided to boost her business. With a capital of Ksh 5,000, she bought logs to construct a small kiosk and utensils to prepare and serve Porridge and today she is grateful for what your help as she continues to run her porriadge business.

Joseph Mwaniki
Joseph, one of the men in the group was settled with his family in the Ngando area at the beginning of the year.  He lost his wholesale grocery shop in Kibera.  Early in the year, the prices of vegetables skyrocketed and the business could not pick up again. He did not lose heart and so decided to try a new thing. He ventured into hardware and merchandise business in partnership with John Muita also a beneficiary of the Church.
In addition to running the shop, they offer plumbing services which boosts their income. Chapel boosted their business with Ksh. 5,000 which enabled them to increase their stock. They are now able to sustain their families and continue to trust God for more resources to expand their business.

These two families are only a representative of the hundreds of families that you as the Chapel family have changed. You have transformed  their lives and may the Lord continue to bless you in every area of your lives.

Mrs. Mungai has been under asthma treatment for some time. Give thanks to the Lord for guiding the doctors who found out that she is actually not asthmatic after all. She is now out of hospital and recovering well while she is on her leave.

Three young men; Simon, Nicholas & Vincent  who are some of our hands-on-men at the site, gave their  lives to Christ last weekend(Eph 6:6-7). Rejoice with them about their new faith and pray for spiritual growth.

Pray comfort and compassion (Isa.50:3) over Christine Wambui whose father passed on and was  then followed closely by paternal  grandmother last week. Loise Munene also lost her father, through a delicate brain operation. The family  must offset a huge hospital bill. Pray for finances.
Mike & Mildred Anami lost a three day old baby girl this week. If you know any of these members of our church who have been bereaved, please make a  visit and be with them at this difficult season of their lives.

Our children's ministry has been trusting God for godly and committed men to volunteer in Sunday school, to teach children and also to support their outreach department. Pray with them and also visit with them for more information.

Our fellow Kenyans in the arid northern and some coastal regions of Kenya are experiencing tough season of drought and famine. Pray for divine intervention so they can have food for their families and livestock.
