KARIBU SANA PASTOR KABIBI

You've seen him around when you've gone to sign in your child into Sunday School. Or seen his face infectious smile as you came to search last week. Meet Pastor Kabibi, who's joined our staff as a Children's Ministry Director under Pastor Bea.

Pastor Kabibi accepted the Lord at the age of 11. In his teenage years he was discipled by the Navigators. He is a graduate of Kenyatta University (B.Ed. Fine Arts) and NEGST (M.Div. Biblical Studies). He is about the most gifted Children's pastor you could come across, with a very clear love for the little ones. He has also a passion to impact others, and to enable people to find their purpose and actualize their potential for Christ. He is called to children's work after a lot of prayer and community.

Before coming to Nairobi Chapel Pastor Kabibi served as a Lead Pastor at Karen Community Church (KCC) for four years. At the end of that time he felt led to seek a post in a church where he could engage with the children's ministry once more. He joined us at the beginning of this month with the blessings of KCC.

Having come to Christ as a child he feels that the greatest window of opportunity to win people to faith is in the early formative years between 6 & 18 years. His work will involve overseeing the Sunday School ministry, training teachers, teaching Parenting classes, running our children's camps, and assisting in outreach to children in schools and estates. He will also lend capacity to pastor Bea and support her as she pursues the goal of reaching 5,000 non-Sunday School children for Christ year. Pastor Bea will also take on the additional responsibility of providing pastoral care to our adult congregation, and to running the Women's Ministry in the church.

Pastor Kabibi is married to Wanjiru, a teacher at Rusinga School; and they are blessed wit two daughters, Wairimu (13) and Wamaitha (6).

Prayer Corner

Four children gave their lives to Christ last Sunday - praise God for bringing them to faith in himself. Pray that they would grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. Pray for more children to give their lives to Christ - we are praying for our numbers to increase 500 children.

Pray for the marriage enrichment retreat which is coming up in a few weeks time. The retreat, set in a relaxed atmosphere is meant to strengthen the marriage union, to remind couples of their vows to each other. Our vision for the marriages in this church is that they would be the foundations of discipleship for their entire family, regardless of age. Pray that this retreat would strengthen all the couples that attend. Pray also for those couples who will not be able to attend the retreat that they too will find ways of growing in their commitment to one another and strengthening their families.

Pray for the staff team. There is a lot of administrative and leadership work going on in our regular ministries with children, youth, Ekklesias, pastoral care, social justice ministries and Sunday services. Pray for focus, team work, diligence and excellence in all that we do. Ask the Lord that he would protect our time, that we would use it wisely. Pray that we would continually be refreshed, and will keep walking with the Lord so that we may serve of the abundance of his blessing in our lives. Pray that the Lord would also provide all that we need to serve him, and also for our personal needs.
