Logos Christian School
In 1999 the Elders of Nairobi Chapel shared with the congregation a vision to “leave a legacy of Christian institutions that will impact generations to come for Christ”. Part of this legacy would be to start and grow a Christian school as part of Nairobi Chapel’s Vision 2020. Over the next several years, the vision was nurtured and birthed through planning, extensive consultations and prayer. On September 9th, 2002, Logos Christian School was opened, with 23 students between the ages of 2 and 5 and prayer. Having met all the expected criteria for registration, the school was later registered by the ministry of education.
Four years down the road, we praise the Lord for the growth he has allowed Logos to experience. The consistent and faithful growth has clearly shown His hand to be with us, and has affirmed our desire for us to follow the path laid out by the elders who birthed the vision. Right now, we are blessed to have a full kindergarten on Chaka Road and a growing lower primary school in our expansive property at Kolobot Drive off arboretum drive!
Logos Christian School desires to offer children a truly Christian education that goes beyond the more traditional view of Christian education where the teachers are professing Christians and there is prayer and Bible study in school. We are re-thinking and re-working the national “8-4-4” curriculum. We seek to offer what we call ‘a redeemed” version of 8-4-4. This is one that will reflect a Biblical worldview where God is central to all learning, and not “relevant” only to the CRE lesson. We provide Christian education using the Montessori Method in the kindergarten and a focused, redeemed revision of the 8-4-4 system in the primary school. While the curriculum is focused on early childhood development and is therefore quite basic, the Bible is still the foundation of learning. The children learn that God is in all of life – in their relationships and in their learning, in the classroom and at home. Creativity in teaching methodology is also highly regarded
Besides the education, the school is committed to providing an excellent atmosphere for learning that is Christ centered and firmly founded on Biblical principles. At Logos every child’s individuality is celebrated as a unique Imago Dei (image of God). The relationships between the teachers, parents and the children are great. Children just love coming to school (we’ve heard that some cry if they have to miss school), and the parents are so thrilled about what Logos is doing to their children that they have committed themselves to buy two new school buses for the school this year.
The vision of the school is not just for the good of the child; it’s for the bigger view of witness to this and other nations. We dream of the impact that a Godly generation of young people can and must have on their communities and nations. Logos is also building relationships with other Christian schools and Christian education organizations in other parts of the world to map the way forward and increase impact.
This year, God opened a door for an amazing 5 acre property on Kolobot drive, off Arboretum drive. This property has capacity for double streaming up to STD 2, but that class is currently single stream. There is plenty of room for classes 1, 2, 3, and 4. We would like to request all those who have children in these classes to sign up now in readiness to transfer your children next term.
To register or ask any questions please get in touch with Mrs. Clara Igwobwa at the school on 020-2723428.
