MUSTARD SEEDS BECOME GIANTS
Two Sundays ago, twenty (20) boys and girls in Johari Class (10-11 years) made the all important decision to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. What a blessing! What a joy! We just have to share this with the whole church. Praise God for teacher Sheila Karago who walked with them to that point.

One of the most powerful illustrations Jesus ever gave is found in Matt 17:20-21. He talked of the power of faith as small as a mustard seed (which is about the size of an office pin head). When one of the children in our body of faith comes to Christ, I skip a little and say to myself, “Watch this mustard seed become a giant.” God is bringing kids to himself and we will see them move mountains for His glory.
We celebrate childhood commitments to Jesus because we know that the future is ahead of them is bright. Their life is saved from the mistakes and regrets so many adults have when they allow Christ to come to their lives much when they are grown up.
Please pray that these boys and girls daily grow in the faith and become spiritual giants for God. In addition, let me encourage us all to walk with these young and new believers among us in the following ways:
- Talk regularly about your own relationship with Jesus to children whenever you interact with them. As you talk about your relationship, they will learn from you how to share their faith. It will encourage them.
- If you are a parent or guardian and your child has committed their life to Christ:
- Talk with your child about the salvation message they heard and accepted
- Read the following bible verses with your child. They explain how to become a member of God’s family: John 3:16; John 14:6; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:18; and Romans 6:23
- Pray for and with your child every week. Encourage him/her to talk honestly with God. Remind him/her of God’s desire and ability to see him/her through everything he/she faces
- Affirm and encourage your child as you see him/her take steps to follow Jesus
- Teach your child to confess all sin. To confess means to admit or to agree. It’s agreeing with God that we have done what is wrong. Assure your child that confession always results in forgiveness (see 1 John 1:9)
- The first unit of our Sunday School curriculum in all the age-groups this year has a clear message of invitation to accept Jesus as Saviour. As the other age-groups conclude the unit, please pray for even more children to get saved.
Joyful in the Lord!
