LOOK AT WHAT GOD IS DOING.

Dear Pastor Oscar

Your preaching has definitely had an impact on my life as I continue to step out by faith, give generously, and receive blessing way above what I expected. God calls us to bless others which is a continuous challenge (the temptation is to keep it all) but is has also been a joy to see how the simple act of giving makes such a difference to the recipient and, surprisingly, even more to the giver.
Today was one of those days – my business partner and I were going to donate uniforms to a school for orphaned children in Karen. We had prepared uniforms for the nursery and std 1 classes – about 45 children and it was so amazing to see the kids in their new uniforms – first they looked totally different, away went the scruffiness and in came children who looked like mine – they pranced and danced around – it was exciting, every one of them just came alive, and we (my partner and I) had the feeling that we need to work harder so that the rest of the kids can also have new uniforms. It is with God’s help that I was able to approach my partner with the idea of us giving back without feeling like he will judge me, yet its like he was ready all along for the idea as it is he and his wife who did the work of taking the measurements of the kids for the uniforms, helped to do shopping, etc.
I have shared your finance sermon with so many people – the one of kids and money is a winner. That particular series made me able to share what I’ve been learning in church with others, and it’s become easier since to share on other things, such as prayer and honor. It amazes me that I am able to talk about God because I only accepted Christ as my savior last year and thought I would die if I had to tell others something about God.
All the best to you and your family and I wish you all of God’s blessings. I continue to pray for you that you may make a difference in other lives as you have done mine.
Regards

MM

Pastoral Care

Liz and Charles Waituika: Thank God that their son, Kyama, who has been unwell, is now doing well. Pray for a full recovery.

Dr. Joyce Gikombe’s sons have been unwell in the past week. We thank God that they are now well, but do continue to commit them to the Lord in prayer.

Prayer Corner

We are in the process of putting together various teams that will spearhead the relocation to our Jamhuri property. Let us pray for them: the fundraising team, the team to plan the first service, and the team to oversee the logistics of ground preparations. Ask God to raise the people these tasks. Pray also for God to raise leaders for each of these teams, and pray that we in the congregation will rally around them to make the relocation happen smoothly. Also pray that in the midst of the relocation plans, our regular ministries of pastoral care, preaching ministry, small groups, prayer, Sunday school, youth and so on, would continue to run well. Oh that the Lord would increase our capacity and resources through people, finances and good time management!

In addition to the relocation teams, pray for our various volunteer teams. Due to the growing ministry needs, we also need increase our pools of ushers, prayer counselors, Sunday school teachers and assistants, armor bearers, security teams, welcome tent assistants, Ekklesia leaders, various host groups and so on. We are also praying that the Lord would raise up more service leaders. Please pray over all the people are that are signing up or we are recruiting to join these teams. Pray that they will be people that walk in obedience to the Lord, have a sense of calling to these ministries and are willing to give the necessary time and energy to serve the Lord with excellence.

Pray also that the Lord would raise more pastors and staff members so that the pastors and staff can serve the church well. We are in the process of recruiting a finance administrator through a recruitment agency. Pray also for the associate pastor in the Children’s ministry. We also expect a few new interns to join us in the near future. Pray that all these will be people led by the Lord to the various positions they need to be in. Ask for discernment on the part of those who will be in the recruitment panels. Pray also that the Lord would provide the finances to meet the financial implications of all these needs.

Thank God for the Children’s Pastors’ Network initiative. Five Pastors in Children’s ministry from various churches around the city got together last weekend for fellowship and brainstorming about forming a children’s ministry network around the city. Pray for this initiative that is being led by our children’s department.
