Karibu Pastor Cathleen Rotich

Cathleen Rotich is our new Pastor in the Ekklesia Ministry. Pastor Cathleen accepted the Lord in 1987 at a Christian Union meeting at Moi Girls High School, Eldoret.  However, the lack of follow up stunted her walk with the Lord and she wavered in her faith for the next several years. She rededicated her life to Christ in 1990 and a year later went to study in India.  She attended the Assemblies of God in Delhi and is very grateful for the Youth Pastor who walked with her through a thorough discipleship process that led her to make a commitment to disciple others in a similar way. It was during this time that she sensed God leading her to Christian Ministry as a vocation but she did not know how or where to start. She committed herself to give one year of ministry to the Lord after her studies.

After graduation, she worked for five years in the corporate world here in Nairobi and then the Lord reminded her of her commitment to give a year to serve Him in a church setting. In 2003, she joined The Internship Program at Lifespring Chapel, a Church plant of Nairobi Chapel at Embakasi after which she served on staff as the Ministry Director for Adult ministries and Leadership Development. Cathleen has been seconded to us by Life Spring Chapel with their full blessings.

Cathleen is a graduate from University of Delhi- India, with a BA in Entrepreneurship & Small Business. She also holds a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Pune – India, in which she graduated top in her class. She is currently pursuing graduate theological degree in Christian Education from Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) on the extension program and will be graduating later this year.

Cathleen has a passion for training and desires to see the church equipped and empowered to skilfully carry out its mandate- The Great Commission. At Nairobi Chapel she would like to see the formation of a community of people walking in the same direction, bonded by prayer, committed to their relationships to one another and with an outward focus to the mission field. We have given Cathleen the task of starting 100 Ekklesia groups by the end of the year, strengthening our existing groups by offering support and training to our leaders. She will also oversee our Internship Program.

She is married to Robert Rotich and they are blessed with two children- Chebet and Kimutai.

Pastoral Corner

Pastoral Care. Do you know of a member who has been bereaved recently, is in hospital, or has gone through trauma? Please, please call our office on 6752346/0725650737 or call Rose Muiu on 0722317961 to let us know. We want to care for our members well, but have no other way of knowing unless someone informs us. Once we know we do a great job at responding and being at their side . . . but only if someone let's us know first. So  if you have the news, take it upon yourself to alert us immediately.

Bereaved….Mary Wanjiku from the youth group lost her brother and he was laid to rest on Thursday. Pray for her family at this time of grief.

Unwell….Pray for Irene Mbuguss' children, Warumi and Ngunu, who have been unwell and are still undergoing diagnostic tests to find out the cause of illness.
Continue to pray for Pst Jan Ryder who is not fully recovered and is still on medication. Pray that God would encourage her spirit during this time of physical discomfort.

New baby….Jan Tristan Mulwa born to Mr. and Mrs Sadat Mulwa. Thank God for safe delivery and good health for both Mom and baby.

Prayer Corner

Two weeks ago, our Senior Pastor challenged each of us to make BIG, BOLD steps to see BIG things happen. The hour of reckoning is here for each of us to trust the Lord to use us once again to accomplish a great task: the relocation. Let us focus our prayers on the things that we have been called to do.

Purpose: Each of us needs to be involved in every way that the Lord enables us. Pray that we would make a decision to be a part of what the Lord is doing in our midst, that none of us would be left behind.

Participate: Pray that we would willingly give our time, skills and talents to see us move successfully. Over the next five months, we have set aside every last Saturday of the month as a Work Day on the land and will be calling on you to come prepare the site in preparation of our move on September 2nd.

Pledge: We need to raise up to Ksh 30 million. Many have pledged to give financially. Others are still considering what their pledges will be. Pray that each of us would hear the call to make a sacrificial financial commitment. May the Lord bless our businesses and sources of incomes so that we will come through on the commitments we make.

Pray: We cannot do all that needs to be done in human strength. All of us have to be involved through prayer. So pray that each of us would commit ourselves to daily prayer about this move and to fast for the same.

Pray for those who are volunteering in the three committees leading us in the relocation. They regularly meet to plan, make decisions and execute those plans. Pray for wisdom as they work at a fast pace to do all that needs to be done. Pray for the leaders these committees Mr. Ken Obimbo (Fundraising Committee), Mr. Mwaniki Mageria (Celebration Service) and Mr. Mike Makumi (Technical Committee). They are sacrificially giving their time to the relocation even as they continue to work their regular jobs. Pray also for safety and commitment of the casual workers on the land who are getting the ground ready for the constructions.
